Oles, City of Santa Monica

Hi all - the section in our municipal code that addresses these vehicles (taxis, ridehailing, etc.) requires for them to file a proof of insurance in the amount specified by the Risk Manager. When we had a taxi franchise program, the required limits were: $100,000/person & $300,000/accident in BI and $50,000 in PD. I am not sure how these limits (higher than required by the State) were determined. Has anyone dealth with this issue before? How did you determine the appropriate limits? Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you.

Burbank's limits are the same as Santa Barbara's - $500K auto and $1M GL with a 2x aggregate. Honestly, I don't know how we came up with those limits.
